Youth Ministry – August 2026

In July, Trinity Student Ministry was blessed to take 56 students and 11 adult sponsors to Horizon Youth Camp in Brownwood for an incredible week of worship, Bible teaching, fellowship, and fun. Throughout the week, our students stepped away from the distractions of everyday life and intentionally focused on growing in their relationship with Christ.

Each day was filled with meaningful worship services, engaging small group discussions, and opportunities for students to build lasting friendships while encouraging one another in their faith. It was exciting to watch God work in the lives of our students, not only during the worship services but also through conversations in free time, during meals, and throughout the day’s activities.

The greatest reason for celebration is that one student accepted Christ as Savior, beginning a brand-new life in Him. We also had several students make significant spiritual commitments, including decisions to follow the Lord in baptism and others who sensed God calling them into vocational ministry. We are grateful for the work the Holy Spirit accomplished in their hearts and ask our church family to continue praying for them as they take these important next steps in their walk with Christ.

A week like this would not have been possible without the investment of our 11 adult volunteers, who gave their time and energy to serve our students. We are also deeply thankful for the prayers and support of our entire church family. Your encouragement and generosity make opportunities like this possible.

Thank you for partnering with us in reaching and discipling the next generation. We are excited to see how God continues to grow the seeds that were planted at youth camp in the months and years ahead.

Children’s Ministry – August 2026

Summer is winding down and we are quickly getting ready for our Fall Programming. Here are a few highlights of what is coming up.

Wednesday Night Kids Ministry Program. I’m very excited for our Wednesday Night Kids Ministry which will include: Music, Missions, Discipleship & Recreation. We will begin the new format on August 19th and go from 5:30-7:00pm in the children’s area.

Our 4’s will be going to worship on Sunday, August 16th which is also Promotion Sunday. Our 4’s will have an orientation on Wed, Aug 12th at 6pm in the Worship Center.

CDO (Children’s Day Out) will be delayed this Fall due to flooding in the children’s area. We will keep you posted on the new start date. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Mark your calendar for First Blessing (Shoe Ministry to kids in our area who need a little extra help). The date for that Ministry will be Saturday, September 19th. We’ll need help in lots of areas, some of those include: cooking, serving, hosting tables, sock give away, feet measuring and shoe room. Let us know if you can help, and we’ll get your information to the Team Captains.

What is GriefShare

How do you deal with the loss of a loved one? No matter if it was a beloved family member or friend, grief is a hard journey. Trinity Baptist Church can help. GriefShare is a 13-week, Bible based program that teaches God’s way of dealing with each level of your grief.

Everyone deals with grief differently. In this program you are supported by others who have also lost and have learned to take it one day at a time. They understand where you are coming from, know the difficult times ahead and the new challenges you face.

Grief is a process (not easy), but with others beside you, each step is a litter easier. We all need someone to listen and be that shoulder to cry on. We are here for you; to listen, cry with, pray with, or simply sit in silence with you. You do not have to suffer the pain and heartache of loss alone.

We offer spring and fall sessions and have a new session starting Monday, September 14th, 10 AM-noon. Each week includes a video lesson, group discussion, and a short break for refreshments and fellowship. You may not feel like GriefShare is right for you today, but we will be here for you with love, compassion and understanding for the hard times of life when you are ready.

Do not worry about privacy in sharing as we are a close-knit group and nothing leaves the room. We want everyone who comes to feel free to share what is on their hearts and minds because that is how we heal.

For the Journey – August 2026

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19

I believe we all love some sort of routine. Make no mistake, we will make adjustments when needed and even find new things to add to our days while dropping some activities along the way. But we like a sense of normal, not boring, but life without major surprises. When disruptions take place it causes us to find new normals and even new routines.

I believe the Church should always be on the move. I am not speaking about locations but destinations. Where are we going? What are we doing? Once we figure out where we need to go, how will we get there? The Bible is clear that God has a purpose for His people individually and corporately as His Church. Once we come to faith in Jesus, God puts alongside one another to help each other grow and become more and more like Jesus.

This August there will be great opportunities to do just that. On Wednesday nights at Midweek, beginning August 19th, we are offering D-up, a discipleship foundation that sets the bar for making disciples. The offerings have been mentioned in the announcements each Sunday and through our small group grapevines. The discipleship classes are: Jesus the Messiah, Son of God bible study – walking through the life and ministry of Christ chronologically, Re/Engage Marriage Ministry focusing on key issues that strengthen today’s marriages, Experiencing God – discover the seven key areas of experiencing God as He invites you to join Him in what He is doing, and Developing Leaders in the Church – instilling biblical leadership and convictions that fosters a “disciples-making-disciples” culture. Sign up in the church office.

With our new Wednesday ministry options, we have also moved our dinner to 4:30 to 5:30 with our discipleship ministry options going from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. I hope you will come and journey with us on Wednesdays. God is doing a new thing, at a new time, with new options.

Join me in praying for our students, teachers, administrators and all school personnel as school gets underway. We will be having a 48-hour prayer wall beginning on August 7th at 7:00 am and concluding on August 9th at 7:00 am. There will be a prayer guide distributed for those who sign up to cover an hour of praying. With all that has transpired and is going on around us, it is always time to pray. Join us as we spend time together in God’s presence, on our knees, on behalf of our community and schools.

Thanks Trinity for all your kindness in celebrating our 14 years as Pastor. Melinda and I love you very much and are so blessed to call you our Faith Family. We cherish our journey here and those we get to walk alongside. You are a blessing to us and our family. I am so encouraged in the LORD when I look up and see so many of you making a difference in our community. We are truly blessed to be a blessing, thanks for blessing those around us.

Flower Ministry

The Trinity Flower Ministry continues to share the Sunday morning altar flowers with members of our church to encourage and provide hope. Other occasions are celebrations of milestones to help our church family rejoice. After the flowers are enjoyed in worship or in a special service, we prepare 4 to 6 arrangements for members of our church family and community. We meet on Monday mornings and work together to create the arrangements, plan who the recipients will be, and then plan the delivery of the flowers. Before they leave for the day, we thank the Lord for the ministry, our group and pray for the needs of the recipients. The flowers are delivered with an encouraging note and we often add a brief prayer or scripture.

We fellowship with the members of our church family when the flowers are delivered. With a spirit of encouragement, we share flowers to share a little joy, praise and love of the Lord. When our church family is experiencing death, health issues or hurting, we share flowers to let them know they are in our thoughts and prayers. Frequently, we make a new friend, sharing pieces of our lives that become a treasured moment. The visits may be short or extended, depending on the needs of the recipient.

As a group, we help each other with small projects, send quick text messages and even phone calls. We have shopped together and are planning a luncheon. Our group is small with the designer of the bouquets being a member for over 20 years. The rest of our group are new to this ministry. Our love of the Lord and our sharing time bring a unique closeness.

Friendship Class

Greetings from the Friendship Class and Happy Fourth of July!

When our nation was formally established 250 years ago, freedom was the clarion call. The definition of a “clarion call” is “a strongly expressed demand or request for action.” Our struggle for national independence in 1776 was an example of a clarion call — the need for independence of the American colonists from England.

But, even more important to us as Christians is a verse from Galatians: “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13; NIV 2011)

A very important part of our class is to expound on the Scripture verses that are part of Trinity’s scheduled daily Bible readings. The teacher casts the Scripture verses on the overhead screen while digging deeper into the Scripture passage.

One of the ways that our class serves one another is through prayer. Prayer requests are shared by the class, prayed over in class, and sent out via email to each class member. I firmly believe that iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). God is our advocate and hears our prayers.

Christian service is another way that the Friendship Class becomes the feet of Jesus. Whether it be the needs of class members or church members, the Friendship Class very often reaches out to help others in their time of need. Sometimes, the need is physical, such as members needing help in driving to a doctor’s appointment. At other times, the need is more spiritual and emotional in nature. All in all, I feel that “koinonia” exists in the Friendship Class. “Koinonia” is the Greek word often translated as “fellowship,” although its meaning goes deeper than mere social interaction. I strongly believe that the Friendship Class is an example of Christian fellowship and communion with God and our fellow Christians.

Mission Moment

At the Pregnancy Resource Center, the Mihai’s are not only helping mothers with their physical needs, they are offering families the opportunity to encounter Jesus and experience His transforming love. This past week, they had two ladies who chose to be baptized. Lidia and Cristina stood in a powerful public declaration of following Jesus, unashamed and full of conviction. They did not concern themselves with criticism or judgment from others; instead, they chose to walk in obedience, living out their faith with courage and grace. It was a testimony that Jesus is alive, changing hearts and restoring lives, even in a community where fear and violence can make surrender feel risky.

In 2022, they carried a hope in their hearts that one day they would witness such a moment. Four years later, Jesus fulfilled that hope! In January 2026, as we sought the Lord for the direction of the center, His answer was clear and powerful: water baptism. In the midst of uncertainty, His light shines brighter—awakening hope, strengthening faith, and calling people into a deeper relationship with Him. This is the work of Jesus: to seek, to save, to restore—and above all, to love.

Lidia is one of the most faithful people at the Pregnancy Resource Center. Her love for Jesus knows no boundaries. Jesus is at work in her life, and through her obedience, she continually opens her heart to His power and presence.

Cristina is a beautiful work of Jesus and you can see that reflected on her face. She shines in every way, always making sure that all the glory goes to Him. A few years ago, Cristina’s 5 year old boy was killed in a tragic accident. God is certainly at work even in the midst of unimaginable pain.

Milan & Misty Mihai and family serve in Romania and are supported through the TBC Missionary Fund.

Children’s Ministry

A big Thank You to all the wonderful adults and youth that jumped in to serve at VBS! We had a wonderful week with terrific kids attending. We had great attendance each day and the kids had so much fun in all our ministry areas of learning. The Children and adults raised $856 for Hill Country Baptist Association and learned about what our Association does to minister in our county and the surrounding area.

Mini Kids Camp is coming up at the end of June and we have wonderful counselors attending with our 1st-3rd Graders. Kid’s Camp is the end of July and we’ve got a great schedule planned for the week.

I cannot thank our volunteers enough for all they do to minister to kids and families! From our ministry events, camps, Wednesday Discipleship and Sunday Bible Studies, we have some of the most amazing teachers and leaders. What a blessing to work with such fabulous adults! If you see any of these terrific adults, thank them for doing such amazing ministry!

Welcome to Our New Youth Minister

After roughly five months of prayer, discernment, and conversation, the Youth Minister Search Committee is grateful to share that our church has approved Josh Gill as our next Youth Minister. We are deeply thankful for the support, encouragement, and prayers the congregation has offered throughout the process.

In our conversations with Josh, it was evident that he has such a passion for creating spaces for people to encounter God and for teaching. Josh comes to us from the H. E. Butt Foundation where he currently serves as the Assistant Director of Laity Lodge Family Camp and has previous experience as a Student & Children’s Ministry Associate Director and a Young Adult Ministry Pastor.

We are excited for Josh to step into this role and eager to see how God will use his gifts to bless our students, families, and community. Josh will start in this new role August 9th, which will allow him to finish up the camp season at Laity Lodge and then take some time to reconnect and recuperate with his family.

Thank you again for your prayers. Please continue to pray for our students, their families, and our church as we continue through this time of transition.

For the Journey

God Bless America! Praise God for 250 years as a nation. The United States has become a major world leader in such a short span of history compared to other nations. I am reminded that God works through flawed people and God is not through working through our nation, nor His church. May we find ourselves faithful to God’s steps as we follow His leadership.

As we come to the anniversary of our tragic flood, July 4, 2025, we are filled with both memories of that day as well as the days following. Over the past year there has been extreme highs and lows. Families had to walk through grief while trying to find God’s comfort and a new normal. We have been blessed to walk with several of them. Many who lost homes have now found new homes and also many have rebuilt what was damaged or destroyed. We are grateful for the many ways Trinity Baptist Church has found to support and encourage.

Praise God we are not where we were, nor where we will be, as we continue our journey together. Thanks to all our members who have helped to support the relief, recovery and rebuild in our area. Many have put their feet on the ground for those needing such help. Others have supported Texans on Missions in incredible ways through shower unit support, cooking teams, and serving as site supervisors. The chainsaw unit that has so many Trinity members on it has been busy from day one. Thank you for being a church that is willing to respond and stay around.

We continue to support the rebuild ministry in whatever ways we can. I am so thankful to be part of a faith community that is large and continues to show up. Thank you Texans on Mission for your consistent support and continued presence.

This August, Trinity will be kicking off a new opportunity of ministry on Wednesday nights. We have been praying through a schedule change that we hope will enable more people to take advantage of next step discipleship. On August 19, we will kick off our new Wednesday night schedule. We will move our Wednesday meal from 5:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Our ministry options will move from 6:00 pm to 5:30 pm. We will offer several options for next step discipleship while continuing to offer our Wednesday Midweek Bible study. The extra time allows for us to offer such ministers as Re/Engage, a marriage ministry developed around strengthening marriages while establishing strong discipleship. Other options include: Experiencing God led by Mark Clemons and Disciple Making Leaders led by JD Templeton. Sign ups will be starting soon. Mike Mullens will be leading our Midweek Bible study through the Life of Christ.

We are excited to announce Josh Gill as our next Youth Minister. Josh and Veronica have been members at Trinity for two years. They have two wonderful children, Grace and Alex. Josh will begin serving at Trinity on August 9th. We will have a welcome reception for them after school starts.

Thanks to our incredible Youth Minister Search Committee. They took their responsibility very serious and worked together as a team to bring Josh our way. We are so fortunate to have great church members in place to lead us. Thanks again, James Tripp, Julie Boles, Barb Bowers, Jesse Hinton, Loretta Keese, Shelby Peschel, and Becky Watkins.
