Reflections on My First Year at Trinity
01
Nov '25

by Alycia Apostolides
This month, while my boss is away on study leave, I thought I’d take a shot at writing the article for Trinity Life. As it happens, this month also marks my one-year anniversary of working here at Trinity! It’s hard to believe—it’s gone by so quickly. I truly love my job and feel incredibly blessed to work with such amazing people.
Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand what makes Trinity such a special place. Here are just a few things I’ve learned along the way:
- The pastor, ministers and staff genuinely care for the people of Trinity.
- They consistently go above and beyond to serve, which was especially evident during the events of this past summer.
- Every week in our staff meetings, each prayer request is lifted up with intentionality and care.
- We function as a united team, striving to bring glory to God and support His people in every way we can.
- Trinity Student Ministry (TSM) is a wonderful place where students are growing in their understanding of God and His incredible love for them.
Wes is a gifted encourager who leads TSM with both energy and grace. He’s supported by an amazing team of parent volunteers who faithfully invest in the lives of our students. - And last, but certainly not least, I’m grateful for a thoughtful and funny boss who encourages me, challenges me, and continues to help me grow.
It is a joy to be part of this community, and I’m so grateful for all the ways I’ve grown over the past year, and all the wonderful people I’ve met. I’m excited to see what God has in store in the months and years ahead!

Glo Games 2025
01
Oct '25

by Melissa Marcum
It is finally Fall and you know what that means? GLO GAMES! Glo Games is one of TSM’s outreach events to students in our area. It is a great opportunity to bring a friend, have some fun, and show them what TSM is all about!
Glo Games will look a little different this year as we are going with a Middle School emphasis. (Don’t worry, High School had their own Glo Night that was just for them.) During Glo Games, students get the opportunity to participate in fun events while glowing in the dark under black lights. They will be divided into teams by color, and compete for the ultimate prize… BRAGGNG RIGHTS! Faces will be painted, shirts will be written on, pizza will be eaten, and fun will be had by all.
As always, we need adult help to ensure our Middle Schoolers have fun and are safe. If you would like to help with Glo Games and find out more about what loving on our students (while beating them at a game of glow-in-the-dark dodge ball), reach out to Wes or Alycia in the church office.
Highschoolers had their Glo Night last weekend! This was new this year and just for our high school students. It was also a great opportunity to bring a friend, have some fun, and show them what TSM is all about!
As with anything we do in TSM, the desire is for students (and you) to know GLY&DARWY. God Loves You & Desires A Relationship With You. John 3:16-17.

TSM Circles – September 2025
01
Sep '25

by James Tripp
The start of a new school year brings many firsts, lasts, and other fresh opportunities for growth, reflection, and transformation. It can present some of the first tangible experiences for our students to take the lessons learned at camp and put them into practice as they interact more with people in their schools and broader communities. The start of a new school year also brings about the launch of Circles in the Trinity Student Ministry.
Circles are the Trinity Student Ministry’s weekly breakouts where students are invited to build deeper relationships with God while also forming meaningful connections with one another and their Circle leaders. These breakouts are designed to help students explore what it means to draw closer to God, lead faithfully in the places He has planted them, and invite others to know and follow Him.
Over the coming months, I cannot wait to see how God uses these firsts, lasts, and fresh opportunities to qualify who He has called, ignite transformative discussion, and draw our community closer together. I am excited to see our adult leaders and students pour into one another with energy and resolve.
Please keep our students and adult leaders in your prayers. Pray for our ministry to be one where the lost, broken, and searching are welcomed, loved, and encouraged. Pray for our students to be galvanizers of change in their lives, at home, at school, at work, and beyond. Pray for discernment and wisdom for our leaders. Most importantly, pray for us all to grow in our relationships with Christ and to reflect Him in our lives.

As we get ready for camp, I (Wes) asked a few of our students what they are most looking forward to. Here’s what they said:
Olivia Elliston (entering 9th Grade at Tivy) – What I’m really looking forward to is being able to grow closer to God with my closest friends and dressing up for the theme nights.”
Josh Woodruff (entering 10th grade at Ingram) – I am most excited for the fellowship that happens at camp. Also, hundreds of youth kids worshiping is something you never forget about
Anna Henson (graduated Senior) – I am looking forward to opportunities to grow in my relationship with Christ as well as guide some of the younger campers towards developing their relationship with Christ. Also, Grad Games is going to be so much fun!
Preston Galindo (entering 8th grade at HPMS) – I’m looking forward to deepening my faith, building stronger friendships, and experiencing God in new ways through worship and community at camp. It’s a time to reset, grow, and have a lot of fun together!
Charis Henson (entering 9th grade at Tivy) – What I am looking forward to most about camp is the relationships I will build and how my relationship with God will grow.
Luke Bowers (entering 10th grade at Tivy) – I am looking forward to growing in my faith and spending time with people that want to grow in theirs.
Kendall Boles (entering 10th grade at Ingram) – I’m looking forward to being in a place away from the rest of the world where I can just feel the Holy Spirit and Connect with God and the people around me.
Cadence Woodruff (entering 12th grade at Ingram) – I am especially looking forward to the worship time that we get at camp.
Jack Bowers (entering 12th grade at Tivy) – I am looking forward to being able to witness the way God works in the people around me and establishing relationships with those people.

Student Ministry – May 2025

May '25

This May is setting up to be a first for me. For the last 20+ years I have celebrated graduating Seniors. Over the years I have honored and acknowledged some graduates I knew extremely well, and some I knew only marginally.
A few years ago, I had a shift in mindset and started to truly find ways to celebrate and honor the families. I wanted what we do as a church to be a blessing for them and, unfortunately, I hadn’t always taken that mindset.
This year, for the first time in my life, I’m celebrating a group of graduates that includes one who lives in my own house.
We have a great group of kids we are going to recognize and celebrate on May 18th, and I hope you’ll join us! We have 17 graduates on our list this year. Some have been with us for the long haul, and some are relatively new faces. But all of them are deeply loved and I’m excited to get to recognize them.
Will you join me in praying for these kids and their families this month? I’m going to be praying for the following things:
- Pray for the celebrations and finishing of a chapter – to celebrate well, and to finish well.
- Pray for decisions about next steps. Not every student knows for sure what comes next, and that’s okay.
- Pray for families. Pray parents, siblings, and extended family can make the most of the time they have.
- Pray for rest. A senior year can be hectic, over-scheduled, and tiring.
- Pray for a continued commitment to Christ. Above all else, pray our seniors stay committed and on track with their faith in the years to come.

Horizon Youth Camp 2025
01
Apr '25

by Lauren Tripp
The countdown to Horizon Youth Camp is on! From July 7-11, our students who have completed 6th-12th grade will have the opportunity to step away from their everyday lives and dive deeper into their faith. Here’s a glimpse of what students can expect:
Growing Your Relationship with God—The most exciting aspect of camp is the opportunity to grow closer to God away from the distractions of everyday life. Collective worship will include large group sessions, coming together to praise God with music, prayer and powerful messages. We’ll meet in small groups for Bible study, allowing more intimate times to dig into Scripture and learn from peers and leaders.
Fun and Recreation—Whether you love sports, team games, or just hanging out, camp has something for everyone. There will be intramural recreation activities to get your competitive spirit going, as well as free time to relax, unwind and just enjoy the beautiful setting of Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat, our new venue.
Fellowship with Others—Students have the chance to strengthen their relationships with students in our youth ministry from different schools, backgrounds and life experiences–coming together to build lasting friendships. Camp also brings together students from other churches, giving students the chance to fellowship with kids from different places and
create lasting connections and relationships.
As we prepare for camp, please pray that students’ hearts will be open to God’s work in their lives. Pray that leaders will have wisdom and energy to guide students spiritually. Pray that Horizon Youth Camp will be a place where students encounter God in a powerful way, and that we leave camp with a renewed sense of purpose and a stronger connection to our Creator.

Student Ministry – March 2025

by Wes Henson
Can you think of some of the “mountaintop experiences” in your spiritual life? These are times where you experience God in a new or fresh way. Maybe camp was a big one for you growing up. Maybe it was a retreat, or a revival. One of mine, strangely enough, was a puppet show when I was in 6th grade. Okay, that’s really strange. But it’s true.
For many of our students, Disciple Now was a mountaintop experience. God spoke to them and they left the weekend feeling closer to God than when they started. But we all know life happens. And we are now a few weeks removed from the weekend.
Will you pray for our students as they explore what it looks like to live as disciples of Christ? God is doing some amazing things through our students and the adults who serve them.
Finally, I want to close today by saying thank you to everyone who helped with Disciple Now in February. Whether you hosted, co-hosted, transported, cooked, served, prayed, or sponsored, thank you for all you do. Trinity is a wonderful and giving church. Thank you is not enough.

Disciple Now 2025

Feb '25

by Wes Henson & Students
As we get ready for Disciple Now, I asked some of the students that will be attending what they are most looking forward to. Here are some of the responses:
Charis Henson, 8th Grader: What I’m looking forward to most about Disciple Now is the way that it encourages our relationship with God to grow. Another thing that I’m looking forward to is that it’s a place that brings joy and comfort and it’s where I’ve made some of my long-lasting friendships.
Luke Bowers, Freshman: I am excited for Disciple Now because I am going to get to grow in my relationship with God and I’m able to get to know people on a deeper level.
Aidan Hawkins, 8th Grader: I’m looking forward to spending time with friends and having fellowship at the host house and church.
Ben Watkins, 7th Grader: Hanging out with friends

Anna Henson, Senior: I am looking forward to building relationships with the younger high school girls since it’s my last year in the youth group.
Kendall Boles, Freshman: I’m excited because I get to spend a weekend away from everything else and spend time working on my relationship with God and connecting with my friends and seeing their growth in their relationship with Christ.

Student Ministry – January 2025

Jan '25

It’s funny to me how the little daily decisions we make have the potential to end up impacting us greatly down the road. As I have lost weight, I feel the “weight” of poor eating decisions. I can often overcome one or two poor decisions, but one or two poor decisions each day for a week add up.
But the same is true of the good decisions. Making one or two good decisions each day adds up as well. Slowly, over time, making the right choice over and over reaps rewards.
Working with teenagers, I see this played out, both ways. Someone makes a couple of poor decisions, over and over, and they often find themselves facing consequences. At the same time, when they make wise decisions, the results can be just as obvious.
The truth is, for all of us, the right decisions make a difference. So, what “right” decisions are you going to make this year? I hope you joined with us on the Trinity Bible reading plan in 2024. You may not have been perfect at it, but hopefully you make the decision to read time and again. If so, yay! If not, then now’s a great time to start.
One other good decision: pray for the student ministry. Pray for students to live out their faith. Pray for our adult volunteers and that relationships will grow and gospel conversation will be abundant. Pray for our seniors who will graduate in May and their parents (of which I am one!). Pray for our 6th graders as they navigate a new phase of Middle School. Pray for Disciple Now coming up in February.
I cannot wait to see what God has in store for 2025!
