Kerrville West Home Group – March 2025

by Julia Whitehead

Kerrville West small group meets every other week to share life, deepen their faith, and grow in community. This off-campus group strives to be more than just a bible study. Its mission is to create time and space for a community of believers to walk closely together in their faith.

We begin with a potluck meal and fellowship. Afterwards, we settle into a time of discussion. We explore God’s Word together and allow space for reflection and application.  Whether studying a book of the Bible, a sermon series, or tackling a faith-based topic, our group prioritizes this time as a way to connect deeper.

Every member is committed to showing up. In times of stress and chaos, we show up and seek peace. In times of rest and leisure, we show up to celebrate and enjoy life together. We strive to create an environment that is intimate and relaxed. Meeting in a home fosters a sense of closeness and allows for vulnerability and authenticity. Prayer requests are shared, encouragement is given, and friendships are strengthened.

We serve one another and support each other in our respective ministries. We serve the church and community through various service projects.  Each month we organize a fellowship meeting to simply “hang out”.  We find each other outside of our scheduled meeting times for a random pickup game or game night.  We support each other in every facet of life – kids’ sporting events, birthdays, big milestones, etc.  We rally together when life feels too heavy to bear alone.  This all adds up to a full life filled with fellowship between friends who feel like family.  Our children experience what life can look like when you surround yourself with believers whose spiritual gifts are different from your own.  They are witnessing the Spirit working through many parts to create a “whole”.

Our group has been active for 8 years now!  In the midst of chaos and conflicting schedules, God uses our time together to restore and encourage. We believe that small groups are an integral part of participating in the Christian walk.  We encourage anyone interested in being part of one to step out in faith and dive right in!

Prime Time Genesis 1 Hiking Group

by Don Francis

Genesis 1 is a monthly fun fellowship activity. We go to state parks, caverns or other local points of interest. It is open to all ages, depending on your abilities to maneuver rough terrain at times. We try to keep our hikes on easy to moderate trails. We skip June through August because of the heat. In May and September we try to go to a cave or cavern to avoid the sun and heat. It is a great time to enjoy God’s wonderful creation. Each April we go to Inks State Park for the bluebonnet blooming. November takes us to Lost Maples State Park, where the maple leaves change to a beautiful red color. We always find a good location to sing the Doxology, giving God praise for His great creation. Normally we leave the church at 8:30 and try to be back by 4:00. When there is a fun restaurant nearby we’ll stop for a Dutch treat lunch, otherwise we take a sack lunch.

The 2024 highlights include the following:
South Llano State Park was an enjoyable hike; usually we see an armadillo or two and lots of signs of wild pig activity. In March we went to Enchanted Rock State Park, it is also a favorite because of its beauty. It can be a little challenging but the view is worth it. In April we went to Inks Lake State Park, one of our annual hikes. When the bluebonnets are in full bloom it is gorgeous. In September we went to Guadalupe River State Park. It was a nice hike with some very pretty views but was a little too warm. Next year in September we will go to a cavern to keep out of the heat. In October we went to Pedernales Falls State Park. It was a very beautiful day, and the river was very low so we got to walk on the river beds and enjoy all of the pools of water and fish that were swimming in them. Also, in October we went to Marble Falls to the Beloved Gallery to meet with artist Akiane Kramark who at the age of 8 years painted a picture based on a vision she had of Jesus. It is very inspiring. We talked to her about her experience with the painting. In November we went to Lost Maples State Park another one of our annual hikes to see the maples changing to their beautiful red colors, they were about 60% changed. On the way home, we stopped at Apple Store for lunch, it is a great place to have lunch. December found us at the San Antonio River Walk. A group stopped to listen to us sing the Doxology at our Casa Rio restaurant dinner. Afterward, we took the river boat ride to see the lights. It was very enjoyable; we’ll make that trip an annual event!

Crossroads Class – January 2025

by Lanie Ebelt

Welcome to the Crossroads Class.  We are located in the Family Life Center on Sunday morning at 9:45 until 10:45. We are a class of multi-generational ages and backgrounds which make us very diverse and interesting!

Our teacher is Gary Anderson.  We do not follow a printed lesson, but Gary gives us what God has laid on his heart to teach which is usually a book of the Bible.  We were in Genesis for the 40 years the Jews wandered in the wilderness!  But it was fun to be with them each step of the way.  Gary has a unique way of tying together Biblical history and American history at the same time.  We have learned a great deal about our fore-fathers and the part God played in our country from the beginning.  From time to time when Gary has to be away from class, we have other teachers who fill in for him.

We are a very loving and friendly group even though we have a large enrollment.  And more importantly than that, we are a strong praying group.  We send out prayer requests each Sunday afternoon that people have asked for that morning.  If needed from time to time, special requests go out during the day sometimes everyday with updates, too.  We try to keep the requests covered in prayer!

I am Lanie Ebelt, Director of the class.  I do my best to keep all things flowing in a smooth manner so that on Sunday morning, Bible study and fellowship is what can be focused on.  I am open to hearing what you have to say as a suggestion and will try to work on what might be requested.  But I will not promise it will happen.  It is my philosophy that you try our class and then try the other classes that Trinity has to offer.  “Go where you are fed” is my motto.

We would enjoy having you come and try us out and see if it is a fit.  We do like to party from time to time but find that we are quite busy with family and travel.  I encourage you to find your time of worship, your Bible study class, and then your place of service here at Trinity Baptist Church!

Joyseekers Class – January 2025

by Sharon Purswell

Greeting everyone with wishes for A Happy New Year from the Joyseeker’s Class!

My name is Sharon Purswell and my husband, Randy and I, are members of the Joyseeker’s Class and have been for almost 10 years. If you’re new to Trinity, or are not yet part of a Bible Study group, we’d like to invite you to check us out. We’d love the opportunity to meet you. We meet in Room 224 just above the Gym/Family Life Center.

We have three great teachers who rotate weekly and whose teaching styles are very diverse. Our study materials are taken from study manuals which promote and invite interactive discussions.

As long-time members of this amazing class, we have learned that it is a class filled with true prayer warriors who are full of compassion and love. If you visit us, the very walls in our classroom indicate signs of the love of those within this group. You might come to learn that “We’re family” and we’d love having you join us. We pray for each other, socialize together whether one-on-one or in a group setting in homes or just hanging out with each other. We generally look after each other’s needs. We’re folks who enjoy the study of God’s Word together, enjoy sweet fellowship together and have fun & laughter all along the way!

Look forward to meeting you soon!
