TBC Men’s Ministry

by Josh Watkins

We have an amazing group of selfless men & women here at Trinity, many have been busy taking care of our local community and church members affected by the flood. Thank you for all your hard work and efforts!

This year we have had a few men’s prayer breakfasts where we spend time fellowshipping around some good food, have a person speak for about 15 minutes, then pray together and plan future men’s events.

At a recent prayer breakfast, Jeff Stone brought his drill and shared how to get involved in the Texas Ramp Project ministry. In June, we had a fishing trip to Lake Calaveras and a few men provided boats to fish out of. Some nice catfish were caught! In August, we cooked pancakes and sausage for the whole church and look forward to doing it again next year! We would love for you to be involved in our future events!

Watch the calendar for events that are coming up.
Future Events:
This Fall – Shotgun event!
October- Men’s Prayer Breakfast

Ways to get involved:
If you would like to help plan events for next year, please contact Josh or JD.
Please pray for our men’s ministry that it would be an encouragement to many men.

Men’s Bible Study – September 2025

by Mike Mullens

If you haven’t attended the Trinity Men’s Bible Study in a while or you’ve just recently become a member of our Trinity Baptist fellowship, you will find attending the Trinity Men’s Bible Study a great way to get to know other Christian men as we fellowship and study God’s word together.

The 2025 Fall session of the TBC Men’s Bible Study begins Thursday, September 4th. Class hours are 10:00 a.m. until noon and include a refreshment break about half-way through the class. Materials are free.

The topic for our twelve-week study this fall is Jesus Messiah, Son of God which will take us through a thorough study of Matthew, Mark and Luke. There are some differences between each of these three important New Testament books which we will investigate as we discuss them. The starting point of this class will be Jesus is without question the most Important man who has ever walked on this planet. He alone was all God and all man and now sits on the right hand of God the Father for all eternity. So, it encourages everyone who professes their faith in Him as the Son of God to discover everything we can about Him. Our study of these three Gospels will help all of us get to know Him better.

Flood Recovery Assistance

At this past Sunday’s Member Meeting, we reported that over $530k has been given to Trinity’s Disaster Fund. Contributions have come from around the country from individuals, churches, and organizations. The Flood Recovery Ministry Team is leading Trinity’s efforts to steward this blessing. To date, almost $350k of those funds have been/are being given to assist recovery in Kerr County from the July 4th flood event.

Priority for assistance is to help individuals/households who have suffered damage or loss to their primary residence. This includes property owners and renters. So far, help has been aimed at giving the opportunity to start recovery. The team is now exploring the ability to increase assistance available to match needs for rebuilding.

During September, we will be gearing up to be a conduit for recovery funds available to our community. This will include application for local funds available to organizations. Your prayers are coveted during this time for wisdom and knowledge to navigate and administer assistance.

Recovery is a long-term effort. Starting on July 4th you, through church members and staff, were a part of search, relief and recovery efforts. Throughout the months of July and August, members have served thru their gifts and personalities to be the hands of Christ along the river. Together we will continue recovery efforts and partner with organizations like Texans on Missions and Mercy Chefs.

For the Journey – September 2025

“Be strong in the LORD and in the power of His might.” Ephesians 6:10

This verse has echoed in my mind every day since we discussed it and our community has begun rebuilding from our recent flooding and crisis. I must admit that I am a little taken back at how often I try to do things in my own strength apart from the LORD. The only thing that really matters is what the LORD is doing through me. I am amazed that there are so many of you who are making yourselves available in several ways to do the same. Thank you, Trinity, for all you are doing in the name of the LORD.

I want to pass along a word from those who have been staying with us through Texans on Mission. I have heard nothing but huge praise for how you are encouraging them and receiving them while they are here with us. I have heard numerous times how precious and giving our faith family is at Trinity. I am so glad that others are seeing what God has impressed upon me while serving as your pastor.

We continue to make plans each week for reaching out into our community to meet needs. There will be more who come to do physical labor in the days ahead. Many of you have joined these groups and even made up this group in the days past. More are on their way. The church has been blessed to bless many through financial contributions. Praise God we have been blessed to be the hands and feet of Jesus not only with our hard sweat, but also with our offering of resources.

New opportunities are on the way. Trinity has been asked to take on some key support positions to allow Texans on Mission to remain with and serve in our community. If you are interested in helping out, please call the church office to see how you may do so.

I stand amazed at how God has used HIS building HE impressed upon us to build. So many have been blessed to come through our doors and receive a warm welcome. We know these opportunities are scheduled well into 2026. We have met a lot of people who we did not know their name before, just as we thought we would. God is good.

Our fall schedule is underway. Students are back in school, Children’s Day Out is underway, Church ministries are back in place, and we are preparing for all we know to prepare for with the understanding that some things may be added. It takes faithful church members to carry out the blessings and responsibilities of the Body of Christ. Thank you again, Trinity Baptist Church.

God is definitely making Himself known and redeeming what has taken place. We are still remembering and praying for those families who were with us over the July 4 weekend. Join us as we continue to walk alongside those God is placing among us to bless.

In Christ,

Kid’s Camp – July 2025

by Donna Hinton

Summer means Church Camp for Kids. YEA!

Cabins are full of wooden bunk beds with very thin mattresses……BUT, every bunk holds a child whose eternal rest is dependent on establishing a relationship with Christ. The showers have shower heads that spray in every direction except where they should……BUT, in every shower is a sponge-like kid soaking up Bible truths throughout the week. It’s hot and the campers swarm around from activity to activity like the ants that I found in my shorts……BUT, all those crafts and swimming and games and horses ridden and arrows shot have given a child either confidence in their abilities, or the opportunity to explore and try something out of their comfort zone. Yes, the Worship music is loud and fast and the kids stand on chairs and jump around……BUT, I see young believers learning to Praise the Lord with their whole hearts and bodies. Then, when their energy is spent for maybe 15-20 minutes, they can focus their mind on prayer and God’s Word being shared by the camp pastor.

Lois Home Group – July 2025

by Katie McMillan

The Lois Street Home Group meets regularly through the fall and spring semesters, two Sunday nights a month in the home of Tabor and Katie McMillan. The group also typically meets with the Kerrville West Home Group once a month for a group fellowship.

We are a group currently made up of 5 families, with children ranging in age from newborn to 6th grade. We met this spring with committed and accountable hearts, despite the challenges that come with meeting during the busiest time of the year. Our meetings are structured to provide time for fellowship, a shared meal that is prepared collectively, and designated time for a bible study. This semester we worked through John Mark Comer’s study on reading scripture. The scripture study is a part of a larger study that we have delved into multiple times over the last two years called, “Practicing the Way.”  “Practicing the Way” encourages readers to intentionally rearrange their lives to be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did, creating a life that reflects the values and practices of the Way of Jesus. We worked individually and came together as a community to grow in our relationships with Christ through incorporating intentional and focused scripture reading times into our daily lives. Through fervent prayer, accountability, the support of Trinity Baptist Church, and dedication to growing our relationships with each other, we have developed a strong sense of family as a community of believers.

Our celebrations from this spring semester include the birth of Kevin and Madison Maldonado’s first child, John Henry, the elected deaconship of Tabor McMillan and James Tripp, involvement in TBCK’s production of the Victor by several of our members, and the baptisms of Karl Kearns, Katie and Walker McMillan. We are currently on break for the summer but are looking forward to resuming our Sunday meetings again this fall. If you are interested in meeting with the Lois Street small group, please reach out to Tabor or Katie McMillan.

For the Journey – July 2025

“God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.” I was reminded of this great truth when we declared it at our last meeting in the Dominican Republic this year. Trinity has been blessed to work alongside Iglesia Bautista Quisquiana now for seventeen years. This year, we partnered through STCHM with FBC Kenedy and FBC Runge. Both the church and STCHM have been responsible for incredible ministry service and harvest in the Dominican Republic. This year was no different. Thank you, Trinity, for praying for our usefulness as we served others in Christ’s name. We were able to witness young parents who were a part of mission teams years ago as children now bringing their children on this mission trip. God is certainly good!

I could not help but reflect over the many years we have partnered with STCHM, IBQ and other churches for Kingdom impact. Several times I found myself on what we call the top or 4th floor of the ministry building where we stayed. This floor was finished and stands in memory of two very dear friends who are no longer with us but now reside in heaven. Former Pastor of TBC, John Petty, introduced this trip to Trinity and Trey Vickery, a young man from FBC Kenedy, both left this world before we were ready to say goodbye. This top floor has been used now for many years to host our daily worship gatherings and late night reflections. I never walk the steps up to the top without both remembering, and being thankful for, both of these incredible lives. Many blessings and life transformations have been the result of time spent there. There is a plaque memorializing both this place and these godly men. We will not forget.

So much has taken place because of the obedience of previous groups. As a result of their sacrifice and obedience we continue to see God’s work in, around, and through us. I am reminded from Scripture, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. For the joy that was set before Him, he endured the cross, despising the shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-3

Summer is in full swing and we have seen God’s hand through VBS and all the preparations for Mini Kids Camp, Youth Camp, and Children’s Camp. We have such a powerful potential ahead of us as we yield ourselves to God’s work around us. Our prayer is that we will see this summer produce great advances in God’s Kingdom. I pray we will strive to stay in step with our journey through the summer of preparing to be spiritually fit. God has great things in store for us and all who await the return of Christ. Let’s keep moving forward, swimming upstream, together.

In Christ,

Mission Moment – July 2025

by Glori Ball

Genesis 12:1, 4 – “The Lord said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.’ So, Abram went as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.” And, he went.

Matthew 2:3 – “The Angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph and said, ‘get up, and take the child and his mother and escape into Egypt.’” So, he did.

Matthew 4:19 – “And Jesus said, ‘Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.’” So, they did.

It seems that God places special hearts in some predestined ‘followers’, and they go! They pack their children and some worldly possessions, and depart according to His will, to places where conditions are the worst; places where others are not going but they go.

The congregation of Trinity Baptist Church also has a mission from God. Sometimes it is “to go”. When we can’t go, we can provide support for those who can go. TBC helps by contributing a small part of the weekly offering to help meet the needs.

Our TBC family has been blessed to support seven missionary families who are serving throughout the world, by joining with other sponsors, to provide for some of their basic needs. God’s voice is now heard in places like Cambodia, where the Roden family lives. His mission is their focus. Kate Roden started on a monthly injection medication for seizures recently and now the seizures have declined. Austin writes, “We are exhorted by the Holy Spirit to ‘count it all joy when we face trials of various kinds, for we know the testing of our faith produces steadfastness.’” We trust and know God is growing us into the image of His Son through this trial.

So, what can we do to support our missionaries? Most importantly, is to pray for them. Each week, the church Announcement Guide highlights one of our missionary families. Please find room in your prayers to add extra blessings for them. They need and deserve all the support we can give them as they follow Jesus’ command to “go into the world and spread the gospel.”
