LIFE@TRINITY

Life at Trinity is given order through three words: Worship, Connect, and Serve. God has gifted each of us differently and equipped us with different passions and preferences. With the choices at Trinity we ask that you seek to Worship with the church, Connect with a small group, and Serve in a way God has gifted you once a week. To help make that simpler we place the things we do under the word that best fits that group or activity. Start by choosing one thing from each area.

Agape Fellowship Class

Room 215 @ 9:45
Teachers: Wayne Comer & John Sontag.
Coed class ages 60+ with strong prayer & fellowship. We encourage Bible centered discussion for everyday application.

by Susan Lesser

If Goldilocks came to our small group Bible study class, she would say it is “just right!” We’re rich in wisdom and experience, with ages ranging from the 60’s to 90’s. Wayne Comer is our teacher, John Sontag subs for Wayne when is out.

We use LifeWay’s Explore the Bible series as our study guide, and Wayne always brings in extra verses and references to give the lesson more depth and understanding. And, discussion is encouraged!

We have one couple who are on the mission field, helping camps all over Texas with building projects and renovations.

We are located in the new adult space, Room 215 (look for the water fountain and you’ve found our room!). We’d love to have you come visit and join in the discussions.

Library Media Center

by Susan Lesser

Come visit us in the Media Center! We’re called the ‘Media Center’ because we have books and DVDs, Bible Study kits, and we’ve recently added jigsaw puzzles. We’re located just off the gym, opposite the bathrooms. Our books are reference, non-fiction, and fiction. Everything is Christian, so you and children can read or watch without having to edit the material. There is a list of Bible Study kits on the corkboard outside the library. Also, outside the library is a cart that we keep filled with free books, devotionals, Bibles, and other books. Our space is limited in the library, so we are selective about donations. There are so many good books published! Please do not hesitate to suggest books or movies. We’re open after 11:00 on Sunday mornings and before Wednesday night Bible Study. If you would like to come browse at a different time, call me (Susan Lesser, 830-928-2834 and leave a message). I’ll call back and we can arrange a time. Come see what is in the church library. I would love to see you!

Discovering God’s Creation: Join the Genesis 1 Outdoors Fellowship

by Don Francis

If you are looking for a way to combine physical activity, spiritual renewal, and wonderful community, look no further than Genesis 1. This monthly fellowship invites participants of all ages to step away from the hustle of daily life and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of our local state parks, caverns, and landmarks.

A Journey Through the Seasons

Our hiking schedule is thoughtfully designed around the seasons. To ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, we pause during the peak heat of June through August. In the transitional months of May and September, we often retreat to the cool depths of local caverns to avoid the sun.

Our annual highlights include:
  •  Spring: A trip to Inks Lake State Park to witness the legendary Texas bluebonnets.
  • Autumn: A November trek to Lost Maples State Natural Area to see the vibrant red
    maples at their peak.
  • Winter: A festive evening at the festive San Antonio Riverwalk for a private boat tour of the Christmas lights

Fellowship and Worship

Genesis 1 is more than just a hike; it is an act of worship. When we find a particularly breathtaking vista—whether it’s the rugged outcroppings of Enchanted Rock or a quiet lakeside trail—we pause to sing the Doxology, lifting our voices in praise for the Creator’s handiwork.

Trip Logistics

Most excursions depart from the church at 8:30 AM and return by late afternoon. While we typically enjoy sack lunches on the trail, we occasionally treat ourselves to local favorites, like the famous Apple Store in Medina. Our trails are generally rated easy to moderate, though we do recommend a basic level of mobility for navigating occasional rough terrain.

Whether we are marveling at wildflowers during a drought or enjoying a private boat ride through holiday lights, the goal remains the same: to enjoy God’s creation together. We would love to have you join us on our next adventure!

Children’s Ministry – February 2026

by Kellee Parish

Did you know that Trinity has a Mother’s Day Out program that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year? Our Mother’s Day Out program is called CDO, which stands for Children’s Day Out, and we have a wonderful team that serves families and children. We have babies through Pre-K in our CDO program, which includes six classrooms. I am so grateful for our team that serves these precious children and parents. Our CDO Ministry Team oversees this ministry and does a fantastic job of encouraging our teachers.

Disciple Kids 1 & 2 has been growing. We need additional teachers for babies and preschoolers on Wednesday nights from 5:50-7:15. If you’d like to join our team as we minister to children, please let me know. I’m so grateful for all that Trinity does to minister to children and their families!

Music Notes – February 2026

One of the most beloved hymns of all time is “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” and it has a powerful, but simple story. Mrs. Civilla Martin wrote the text to this wonderful hymn in 1904 as she visited a dear friend. Her friend, who we do not have a name for, was bedridden and had been for some time. Mrs. Martin asked her if she ever felt discouraged by her situation, and her friend replied quickly, “Mrs. Martin, how could I ever be discouraged when I know my heavenly Father watches over every little sparrow and I know He loves and cares for me?” Within just a few minutes Mrs. Martin had written the words to the hymn we still sing today. Scripture makes clear that God takes great care of even the most common of little birds, how much more will He care for us.

If you feel discouraged, forgotten, or left out, just remember that God says we will soar on the wings of eagles. What a majestic and incredible thought. Wherever you go and whatever you do, take the peace and joy of the Lord with you and let people see that difference shining in you.

Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows fall?
Why should my heart be lonely,
and long for heaven and home,
when Jesus is my portion?
My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet now one will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father in heaven. And even the very hairs on your head are numbered. So, do not be afraid; you are worth far more than the sparrows.” Matthew 10:29-31

Meet Forrest Walker—Interim Student Minister

My name is Forrest Walker, and I am honored to step into the role of Interim Student Minister. This season is both humbling and exciting for me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside our students, families, and church during this time.

Before stepping into this role, I spent several years as a teacher, which deeply shaped my heart for students; not just academically, but personally, emotionally, and spiritually. I’ve always believed that young people don’t just need information; they need to be seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. My desire in youth ministry is to create a space where students feel safe asking hard questions, growing in their faith, and discovering who God has created them to be.

As Interim Student Minister, I’m not coming in with the goal of reinventing everything. Instead, I’m looking forward to building trust, providing consistency, and helping maintain a strong foundation during this transitional season. I am excited to invest in relationships, encourage spiritual growth, and support what God is already doing in the lives of our students.

I am especially looking forward to walking with students through Scripture, having honest conversations about faith and life, and helping them see that following Jesus is not just something for Sundays—it is something that shapes who we are every day. My prayer is that this time will be one of stability, encouragement, and meaningful growth for our youth ministry, and I am so thankful to be a part of it.

A Message from Wes Henson

In Philippians 1:3 Paul begins his thought with: “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,”

As many of you have heard, my final Sunday on staff at Trinity will be January 18th. I cannot express how grateful we are for the love we have been shown over the past almost seven years. I never anticipated the privilege of serving a body of believers who are so generous, alongside a staff who is so caring, with a group of adults so willing, and with a group of students who are so much fun. We truly consider Trinity to be family, and will miss so many aspects of what we have been able to do the past seven years.

But, as Paul writes just a few verses later in Philippians 1:7, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

What has begun (or continued) will continue because God makes things grow. Thank you, Trinity Family, for continuing to be faithful to God in all things.

For the Journey – January 2026

A new year is upon us. For some, it has taken too long to get here, and for others, it came way too quickly. The impact of 2025 had a full assortment of both good and bad. What we choose to remember will help to determine whether we view it largely as positive or negative. Either way, it has given shape to our present and our future.

Trinity Baptist Church began the year making plans to celebrate our 75th anniversary. We determined to help raise support to eliminate our financial debt of our Gathering Space and God blessed us by covering a big amount through faithful stewardship and giving. We had Dennis Swanberg come and help us celebrate as we were encouraged and laughed a lot. What a wonderful gathering, which was dampened by a big hailstorm as we were heading home.

God has really blessed our Gathering Space in our new building by allowing our church to see one another as we gather and move through our Sunday Worship and Bible studies. We did not know it at the time, but God had another use for our space when we were called upon by our city to provide shelter for those loved ones who were not hearing good news from our tragic flood on July 4. I am appreciative for how Trinity provided for the privacy these parents and family members needed. Our hearts are forever changed and our family grown.

Texans on Mission quickly came to our campus and have been a great source of financial support and physical labor support in Kerr County. TXM has several groups already scheduled to come and help our community in 2026. Trinity has remained accessible to the lodging needs and meals. Thank you to all who are helping in these areas. It has been such a blessing to sense the large Baptist family support from around the state and even out of state.

We continue to pray for all who were affected by the flood. It will not be like it was, but neither will it remain as it is today. One of the things that stands out for me is the way the church at large was available to meet needs and stay connected to the rebuilding efforts taking place. We have a wonderful group of sister churches in Kerrville with godly and anointed leadership. We will continue our journey together.

Most of you have heard that Wes Henson has resigned as Youth Minister at Trinity. Wes has felt the LORD leading him in some other directions and Wes is faithfully moving in that direction. I am appreciative of everything Wes has done over his tenure as Youth Minister. He has been an excellent ministerial team member and we have enjoyed watching his family grow up with us. He has developed an incredible team of adult leaders while encouraging our students to take their stand for Christ. Wes’ last day on staff will be Sunday, January 18th. On that day, there will be a reception for the Henson’s at 3:00pm in the Café, with a carding. I hope you will make it a point to express your appreciation to Wes, Mica, Anna and Charis for their time on ministerial staff with us and encourage them as we see them taking the next steps with their family.

I am excited about 2026 and look forward to all God has in store for us as we continue to meet together and prioritize God’s assignments among us. Stay tuned; it will be awesome!

In Christ,

Crossroads Class

FLC/Gym @ 9:45
Teacher: Gary Anderson.
All ages welcome. Lecture style Bible teaching with individual participation encouraged. Strong fellowship and caregiving within the class.

by Lanie Ebelt

Welcome to the Crossroads Class.  We are a class of many faces and many ages.  The Crossroads Class is a hard-working and praying class.  We find it gratifying to lift up one another in prayer.  We also love to hear the results of those prayers in praises for all the good things God had done!

We meet at 9:45 and are located in the Family Life Center because we are a sizeable class. Though we are a large class, we continue to have the ability to welcome new members. Gary Anderson is our main teacher. He has a vast knowledge of God’s Word, a great sense of humor, and when he has to be out for some reason, he finds just the right person to fill his shoes.

I am blessed to serve as the Director of the class and I welcome the opportunity to meet you personally and assist you in whatever way I can.
We look forward to having you join us in Bible Study worship.  Come give us a try, you’ll like us!

Bridge Class

Chapel @ 9:45
Teachers: Keith & Debbie Williams
Adults of all ages; Bible study with life applications

by Frank Stevens

The Bridge Class began in January 2024 with the 3-fold purpose of developing our relationship to Jesus by gathering to study the Bible, developing our relationship to one another in Christian love through prayer and fellowship, and reaching unbelievers with the good news of Jesus. Keith and Debbie Williams co-teach the class.

Our ministry team consists of Don and Debbie Nelson, Frank and Judy Stevens, and Stacy and Kellie Cody. Don Nelson is the class director. Mike Barry helps with hospital visitation. Wiley Wilkerson leads our worship songs with Karen Clogston on the piano. All our members participate in what God is doing at “The Bridge” whether by warmly welcoming one another, contributing to class discussion, or arranging chairs.

Our teachers use an inductive method of teaching through books of the Bible, along with occasional topical studies such as on Heaven and Angels. Our study format includes the use of various study guides to encourage independent study, class participation, and life application. We encourage members to reach out to those in the community with Bridge Class Invitation cards that have the plan of salvation.

We have quarterly fellowships with our largest gathering being our Christmas potluck where we take a free will offering for a community organization. This year, the offering was for Bibles for Christian Men’s Life Skills. We actively pray for one another by getting prayer requests each week and emailing them to the class. We have a meal train program for our sick or temporarily incapacitated members. We send out birthday, sympathy, get well, and anniversary cards to our members. The Bridge class participates in the Trinity Adopt-A-Grad program and encourages members to participate in ministries throughout the church. Quarterly supper clubs provide the opportunity for small groups of members to enjoy meals and develop deeper connections.

Our class consists of all ages and stages of life, married as well as singles. We enjoy lively discussions and fellowship and welcome anyone to come join us. We meet in the Chapel at 9:45 and are currently studying Hebrews.

Joyseekers Class

Room 224 @ 9:45
Teacher(s): David Sprouse, Jack Hayslip & Wayne Uecker.
Ages 30s – 70s! We study with a lecture/discussion style and currently use Explore the Bible by Lifeway.

by Hollis Uecker

Happy New Year 2026! If you are looking for a new start to Bible Study, please consider checking out the Joyseekers Bible study class on Sunday mornings at 9:45 in room 224, upstairs from the gym.

Joyseekers is a group of warm and welcoming people in various walks of life, who have a desire to read God’s Word and dig deeper into the scripture passages through active class discussion. At the moment, we have two amazing teachers, David Sprouse and Jack Hayslip, who rotate teaching responsibilities. The class uses the Explore the Bible study guide published by Lifeway. The quarterly studies alternate between Old Testament and New Testament books of the Bible.

The class just began a study of Matthew. So far, the discussions over Matthew chapters 1-4 have been very active, so this promises to be another great study.

In addition to the study/discussion time, we begin each Sunday with a time of praises and prayer requests. Kathleen Cook does an incredible job of capturing these requests and publishing a weekly email with a review of our lesson and those requests for people we can pray for throughout the week.

Many of our class members are active in various activities around church including choir, CDO leadership, security, sound, Men’s and Women’s weekly Bible Study groups, Night in Bethlehem and the Stitchers group, just to name a few.

If you are looking for a Bible study class to be a part of, we would love to have you join us any Sunday morning at 9:45 in Room 224. The Joyseekers group will welcome you to our class with no pressure applied. Whether you choose to sit back and listen or jump right into our discussion, you will be welcomed!
