Agape Bible Study Class

by Susan Lesser

Welcome to the Agape class! We’re located in the new building, upstairs. Our class has the water fountain just outside the door. We are currently 11 members who enjoy studying the Bible with a discussion format.

‘Explore the Bible’ is our study guide with words of wisdom from Exodus and Leviticus. Being small, we keep in touch with cards and phone calls and spend the first 15 minutes of class sharing what happened or what is in the planning stages. When we get back to warmer weather, we’ll eat out occasionally.

We love visitors! We love visitors who participate! Our teacher is Wayne Comer. His deliberate and thoughtful discussion style leaves plenty of room to share ideas and viewpoints. Our class is mostly 75+ with some of us ‘youngsters in there. As it says in Revelation, “Come. Come to the table.” We’d love to have you.

Prime Time Genesis 1 Hiking Group

by Don Francis

Genesis 1 is a monthly fun fellowship activity. We go to state parks, caverns or other local points of interest. It is open to all ages, depending on your abilities to maneuver rough terrain at times. We try to keep our hikes on easy to moderate trails. We skip June through August because of the heat. In May and September we try to go to a cave or cavern to avoid the sun and heat. It is a great time to enjoy God’s wonderful creation. Each April we go to Inks State Park for the bluebonnet blooming. November takes us to Lost Maples State Park, where the maple leaves change to a beautiful red color. We always find a good location to sing the Doxology, giving God praise for His great creation. Normally we leave the church at 8:30 and try to be back by 4:00. When there is a fun restaurant nearby we’ll stop for a Dutch treat lunch, otherwise we take a sack lunch.

The 2024 highlights include the following:
South Llano State Park was an enjoyable hike; usually we see an armadillo or two and lots of signs of wild pig activity. In March we went to Enchanted Rock State Park, it is also a favorite because of its beauty. It can be a little challenging but the view is worth it. In April we went to Inks Lake State Park, one of our annual hikes. When the bluebonnets are in full bloom it is gorgeous. In September we went to Guadalupe River State Park. It was a nice hike with some very pretty views but was a little too warm. Next year in September we will go to a cavern to keep out of the heat. In October we went to Pedernales Falls State Park. It was a very beautiful day, and the river was very low so we got to walk on the river beds and enjoy all of the pools of water and fish that were swimming in them. Also, in October we went to Marble Falls to the Beloved Gallery to meet with artist Akiane Kramark who at the age of 8 years painted a picture based on a vision she had of Jesus. It is very inspiring. We talked to her about her experience with the painting. In November we went to Lost Maples State Park another one of our annual hikes to see the maples changing to their beautiful red colors, they were about 60% changed. On the way home, we stopped at Apple Store for lunch, it is a great place to have lunch. December found us at the San Antonio River Walk. A group stopped to listen to us sing the Doxology at our Casa Rio restaurant dinner. Afterward, we took the river boat ride to see the lights. It was very enjoyable; we’ll make that trip an annual event!

Music Notes – February 2025

by Tyler Sutton

Worship in the churches I grew up in usually involved screaming guitars, strobing lights, drum solos, and powerful vocals. We took the “resounding cymbals” portion of Psalm 150 literally. It was this style of worship that always connected with me and is what drew me to those church services to hear the gospel preached every week. Now, as an adult I’ve grown an appreciation for all genres of worship and even love the traditional hymns and the incredible stories of the believers who penned them. It was always the expression of genuine worship and ascription of worth and honor to the triune God that drew me in.

Our local Trinity radio is home to many of these varying styles of genuine worship including a new show called Forged by Faith. Airing every Friday from 8-10 PM. Tune in to listen to vertical focused, Christ centered worship and Christian rock featuring songs from rap-rock, post-hardcore, pop-punk, post-grunge, metal, and more. We will rotate songs from the early to mid- 2000s as well as newer metal covers of classic worship songs. The goal being to always play passionate and powerful worship from artists that are unapologetically bold in their faith, delivering messages of hope and redemption through heavy instrumentation and biblically sound lyrical content.

Tune in every Friday from 8-10 PM for Forged by Faith. Christian rock and worship that passionately proclaims the greatness of God.

“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.” Psalms 40:3

For the Journey – February 2025

Thank you, God, for a good ending to 2024. We were blessed to see baptisms on the next to last Sunday in 2024 and also baptisms on the second Sunday of 2025. We anticipate good things coming for the rest of the year.

I hope you are saving the date of Sunday, March 23, at 4:30 for our Church Wide Banquet to celebrate our 75th anniversary. We have scheduled the Minister of Encouragement, Dennis Swanberg, to be with us on that evening. I have enjoyed being with “the Swan” in several events celebrating God’s goodness in great places. This will be a wonderful evening with a good meal and great laughter. Tickets are free and will be available in March. By securing tickets, we will have a better idea as to number of meals and seating.

This month we will be holding our Third Prayer Wall praying around the clock. On Friday, February 21st from 7:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 23, 7:00 a.m. we will have church members praying around the clock. There will be some prayer points published by our church to assist in our prayer times. Members will select an hour between the times available and will receive a call from another prayer person letting them know they are on the “wall.” After they finish their prayer time, they will call the next person and do the same. Yes, some people will be praying at late hours of the night and early hours of the morning. Call the church office to get on the list and we will be sure to get the information to you regarding details and prayer points. Thanks for being a part of keeping a continued voice before the LORD from Trinity Baptist Church over this weekend.

Our Deacon selection process is moving forward with interviews taking place soon for the nominated deacons. Our Deacon Selection Task Force will have recommendations for church consideration soon. We are blessed to have great deacons serving our faith family and excited to add new deacons to that faithful team of servants. We will be voting in a worship service soon.

Be in prayer for your participation in our 75th anniversary birthday gift. You will be receiving letters in the mail soon detailing more of our plans. God has gifted us with His presence and His provision. We are the blessed recipients of many faithful members of Trinity Baptist Church and are in an incredible position to bless others who will come our way. I am so honored to know the names of our faithful church members and anticipate learning new names as God sends people our way. Thank you for your continued faithfulness.

This month we will also be celebrating Kellee Parish’s tenth anniversary as our Children’s Minister. We are so grateful for Tres and Kellee and their excellent ministry among us. Be sure to share your wishes and thanks for all Kellee and Tres do within our church and ministry. Also, we are celebrating 10 years of anniversary with AJ Lopez who has been so faithful in helping us keep our church clean and ready for our next ministry opportunity. Please express your thanks to our faithful employees.

In Christ,

Joyseekers Class – January 2025

by Sharon Purswell

Greeting everyone with wishes for A Happy New Year from the Joyseeker’s Class!

My name is Sharon Purswell and my husband, Randy and I, are members of the Joyseeker’s Class and have been for almost 10 years. If you’re new to Trinity, or are not yet part of a Bible Study group, we’d like to invite you to check us out. We’d love the opportunity to meet you. We meet in Room 224 just above the Gym/Family Life Center.

We have three great teachers who rotate weekly and whose teaching styles are very diverse. Our study materials are taken from study manuals which promote and invite interactive discussions.

As long-time members of this amazing class, we have learned that it is a class filled with true prayer warriors who are full of compassion and love. If you visit us, the very walls in our classroom indicate signs of the love of those within this group. You might come to learn that “We’re family” and we’d love having you join us. We pray for each other, socialize together whether one-on-one or in a group setting in homes or just hanging out with each other. We generally look after each other’s needs. We’re folks who enjoy the study of God’s Word together, enjoy sweet fellowship together and have fun & laughter all along the way!

Look forward to meeting you soon!

New Church Missionary Families

In 2025, Trinity is adding two missionary families to the five we have been supporting directly in 2024. Each year in early Fall Trinity’s Missions Committee recommends to the church missionary families for monthly financial support. Along with that support we add these families to our prayer support for missionaries. Through our connection to these missionaries we are joining in on what God is doing in the world and being enriched to join Him in His work here in Kerrville.

Roden Family

Austin & Kate Roden, Knox, Blakey, and Ember – Great Commission Baptist Church in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Austin Roden serves as lead pastor at Great Commission Baptist Church in Phnom Penh, Cambodia where he and his wife, Kate, are members with their three children Knox, Blakey, and Ember. Austin and Kate have similar stories of being raised in Christian homes and beginning their personal relationships with Christ at early ages. Austin began to feel God’s call to a life of gospel work outside of his birth culture in high school and while in college participated in mission trips overseas. As a young couple both he and Kate felt God’s call on their family and moved to Northeast China to teach English. After five years in China they moved to Cambodia and have been serving the local church there for three years now.

Austin & Kate have a Facebook Group you can follow them on. There you will be able to hear what God is doing in Cambodia. Every two to three months they will be sending out a newsletter that will be viewable on Wednesday nights here at Trinity. Look for it and the address for their Facebook group on the Missionary Update table in the FLC.

Kara O'Connell

Kara O’Connell, Associate BSM Director – Baylor Campus

Kara O’Connell serves the Baylor campus in Waco. She connects the BSM to Highland Baptist Church where she is a member volunteering in their College Ministry as well as their Women’s and Discipleship Ministries. At a young age Kara accepted and confessed Jesus as Lord, but feels at 17, through the experience of losing a grandparent, she came to realize the depth of God’s attentive presence in her life and “gave Him the silence of [her] own thoughts to hear His voice.”
While participating in the BSM at Stephen F. Austin, Kara answered God’s call to College Ministry. Beginning as a Campus Missionary Intern at Baylor after graduation she is now serving as Associate Director of Baylor BSM. Her position includes the BSM work at McClennan Community College. Along with the monthly financial support Trinity provides we can be involved in God’s work through Kara by praying for and encouraging her.

Learn more about missionaries Trinity supports directly by coming by the Missionary Update table on Wednesday nights in the FLC and the Missions page of Trinity website at tbck.org/missions.

For the Journey – January 2025

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13

Happy New Year! As we set our sights on what is ahead, we really don’t forget 2024. We are grateful for the lessons learned and blessings received. I have heard from several of you regarding our reading of Scripture together last year. We will continue to do so this year as we begin reading the Old Testament. You can pick up a reading guide for 2025 at the church. We will start with Genesis 1 on January 1.

The church has nominated some incredible men to serve as deacons and the names are now moving through the process of selection and interviews by the New Deacon Selection Task Force. The deacon leadership has interviewed four deacons who have served in other churches and have been a member at Trinity Baptist for at least one year. We are hopeful that these men, as well as those recommenced by the Task Force, will be in place in the next few months. We have incredible deacons who serve Trinity as faithful servants.

Come Journey With Us … You will hear more about the plans for 2025 as we continue to spend time together. In March, we will celebrate Trinity Baptist’s seventy-fifth anniversary. We are making plans for a church-wide banquet on March 23. You will hear more about it, but we are also hoping to give ourselves a great birthday present by knocking down our debt in a great way. Our newest building is being used in incredible ways every week. God has been so good to us and our church has been so faithful to cover our debt. I look forward to the day when we will once again be debt free and allow ourselves to continue blessing others.

Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate Christmas in such a grand way. From choirs, to dramas, to invitations for services, Trinity has been active in expressing God’s goodness and inviting others to join us on our journey. God has great plans for us and I am excited about what God is making known to us. May this year be even a greater year of worshiping, connecting, and serving the LORD together.

In Christ,
