There is Redemption in this Blood

Hi. My name is Frank Brooksher. In 2015 I joined Trinity Baptist Church as a Pastoral Care Minister. These past three years have been an exciting time in my life. But, one of the most exciting I’d like to share with you today is something that happened to me on March 24th of 2018 during a performance of The Victor here at Trinity.

Having been a police officer for 33 years; most of that in Houston, Texas; I can tell you that I have been around a whole lot of blood and violence, some terrible things that I have witnessed. Most of us think of blood as something to shy away from. And for most cases that is true. But I can’t help and think of blood in the Bible and what Ephesians 1:7 tells us, It is by the shedding of Blood of Jesus Christ that we have redemption that our sins are forgiven. How great is the grace of God. On that day in March this past year I had an opportunity in this very spot right here to feel the full impact of the shedding of that blood for me.

During the performance of the Victor I am allowed to come forward after the crucifixion scene and take down the cross. On that Saturday evening, like I had done so many times in years past, I reached up to grab the cross and lay it down so it would not block the view of the ongoing performance. On that night when I reached up to grab the cross I felt something on my hands as I lay the cross down. As I turned to walk away I looked down at my hands and they were covered in the blood that was used in the for the scene of the crucifixion.

As I turned to walk away God told me, “This blood that you feel was shed for you.” Such as moving, moving impact that had on my life. I had to share it. I had to tell people that the blood of Jesus Christ was real. It’s real for me. It’s real for you. Cause without the shedding of his blood we would have no chance of having a relationship with God, we would have no chance of spending eternity in heaven with our Lord and God.

All of those years I spent as a Police officer I tried to distance myself from the blood of those victims that I had to treat and come in contact with. But from now on I will know that blood that I felt that day was nothing like the blood that I felt on the night of March 24th.

Jesus is Lord of my life. If you want him to be Lord of your life all you have to do is confess that you are a sinner, that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, rose again, and is sitting at the right hand of the Father waiting for our arrival. God gives eternal life for me and for you. Trust in Him, love Him, and serve Him.
